Ryan Wins Pac-12 Title

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – After runner-up finishes in 1-meter diving the past two seasons, Stanford junior Jack Ryan won his first Pac-12 Conference championship on Wednesday.

Ryan led through all six dives at the King County Aquatic Center to give Stanford its fourth victory in five years in this event and ninth in 12 years.

Ryan scored 434.35 points to far outdistance runner-up Shangfei Wang of USC (396.25). Stanford's Hunter Hollenbeck was a personal-best seventh, scoring 291.65.

Ryan's victory gives the Stanford men's swimming and diving team a head start in its quest for its first Pac-12 title since 2017. The swimming portion of the meet takes place March 6-9 at the same venue.

Ryan and Hollenbeck follow with the 3-meter prelims and final on Thursday. Both have qualified in both the 1-meter and 3-meter for the NCAA Zone E Championships March 12-13 in Flagstaff, Arizona. The meet acts as a qualifier for the NCAA Championships March 27-30 in Indianapolis.

Ryan scored more than 70 on five of his six dives. His best was 78.00 on his fourth, which vaulted him into a 25-point lead.
