Stanford Beats the Bruins

LOS ANGELES – Fueled by three 1-2-3 race finishes on the day, No. 4 Stanford defeated UCLA, 127-111, on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season.

The Cardinal swept the podium in the 200 free, 400 IM, and 100 yard breast events in its first road conference meet of the year to move to 4-0 in Pac-12 play.

Junior Lillie Nordmann led the way for the Cardinal with a pair of race wins on the day, clocking a 1:46.04 in the 200 free before taking the race win in the 500 free later in the meet with a 4:48.40.

The freshman tandem of Caroline Bricker and Lucy Thomas once again contributed to Stanford's success, with Bricker notching the 400 IM title with a 4:11.77 and Thomas collecting the race win in the 100 breast with a 59.61.

Natalie Mannion paced the field in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:00.02 while Amy Tang rounded out the individual Cardinal event winners with a 54.27 in the 100 backstroke.

In the relays, Stanford clinched the meet win in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a  time of 1:30.38 out of the "A" group of Tang, Nordmann, Kayla Wilson, and Anna Shaw.

UCLA notched the event wins in the 200 medley relay, 50 free, 100 fly and 100 free, while also sweeping the action on the diving boards with wins in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

Stanford returns to action on Saturday at noon PT for a top-10 clash among Pac-12 foes, taking on No. 7 USC inside Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The action will be broadcast live on USC Live Stream.
