Duo Earns All-America Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – Following standout freshman campaigns in 2023, sophomores Malcolm Moore and Matt Scott have earned Baseball America Preseason All-America honors headed into the 2024 season.
 
Moore, the 2023 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, was selected to the first team, while Scott landed on the third team. The pair helped guide the Cardinal to a third consecutive College World Series appearance a year ago.
 
A native of Sacramento, Calif., Moore started all 64 games as a freshman, including 55 at catcher and nine at designated hitter, while batting .311 with 50 runs scored, 20 doubles, 15 homers and 63 RBIs. A consensus Freshman All-American, the power-hitting backstop slugged .564 while compiling 23 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI contests. In Pac-12 play, Moore batted .282 with 19 runs scored, eight doubles, five homers and 25 RBIs.
 
Scott went 5-5 with 62 strikeouts over 67 innings and 24 appearances, including 12 starts, last year while converting one save en route to being named to Perfect Game's Freshman All-America second team. The right-hander finished third in the Pac-12 in hits allowed per nine innings (7.93) and averaged 8.33 strikeouts per game while limiting opponents to a .227 average against. The native of Redding, Conn. went 3-3 with a 5.49 ERA and 36 strikeouts over 41 innings and 11 appearances, including eight starts, in Pac-12 play.
 
The Cardinal will begin the 2024 slate at home against Cal State Fullerton on February 16.
