Bricker Brings Home Gold

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - An impressive freshman resume for Caroline Bricker now includes her first conference title as she clocked an impressive 1:53.31 to claim the 200 IM crown on day two of the Pac-12 championships. 

No. 5 Stanford now sits in third in the team standings with 398 points behind only California and USC. 

Bricker was the class of the field all day in the 200 IM, also posting the fastest prelim time of the morning with a 1:55.14 mark. In Friday evening's final, the Colorado Springs, Colo., native outraced defending conference champ Leah Polonsky of California down the stretch to defeat the Golden Bear by 17-hundredths of a second. 

Teammate Lucy Bell narrowly missed the podium as she finished fourth with a 1:55.80, while teammates Sam Tadder (158.26) and Jamie Brennan (1:58.30) finished 10th and 11th, respectively, following their "B" Final effort 

The night began with the 500 free, as Aurora Roghair lost a tight battle to Arizona State's Lindsay Looney to take second with a time of 4:36.32. Natalie Mannion also qualified for the "A" final in the event, finishing sixth. Kayla Wilson finished 10th in the event with a 4:45.02 time in the "B" final. 

Amy Tang was Stanford's lone "A" final qualifier in the 50 free event, touching the wall third with a time of 22.15. Anna Shaw represented Stanford in the "B" Final with a 22.50 to finish 14th overall. 

The quartet of Gigi Johnson, Tang, Wilson, and Shaw capped off the night in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:28.05, good enough for third place. 

In the diving well, Lauren Burch brought home bronze in the 1-meter dive with a score of 301.45. Emilie Moore joined her teammate in the finals, placing eighth with a 267.45

The Pac 12 Championships will continue tomorrow with the divers on the 3-meter and the swimmers racing the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 400 medley relay.
