CORVALLIS, Ore. - Five Cardinal punched their tickets to Kansas City as Stanford placed fourth as a team at the Pac-12 Championships, Sunday, at Gill Coliseum.
The Cardinal finished with 101.5 points as a team. Arizona State (137.5) won the Pac-12 team title, while Little Rock (114.5) was the runner-up and host Oregon State (109.0) took third.
Earning automatic berths to the NCAA Championships, sophomore Daniel Cardenas and redshirt freshman Hunter Garvin were the runners-up at 157 and 165 pounds, respectively. Cardenas is now a two-time NCAA qualifier.
Redshirt senior Jaden Abas (149) and senior Nick Stemmet (197) both placed third to also secure automatic bids. Abas is now a four-time NCAA qualifier, while Stemmet will be making his third appearance at the national tournament.
Sophomore Nico Provo also finished third on Sunday. The 125-pounder had to win a true second-place match to secure his spot in the NCAA Championships, defeating Oregon State's Brandon Kaylor, 9-6, following the finals.
Joining Abas, Provo and Stemmet as third-place finishers were senior Jason Miranda (141) and redshirt freshman Jack Darrah. Dom LaJoie (133), Thor Michaelson (174) and Peter Ming (285) all took fifth.
