Card in Fourth

ATHENS, Ga. – Stanford earned All-America honors in each of the four swimming events on Thursday, good for fourth place in the team standings after day two of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. The Cardinal sit at 105 points after two days of competition behind Virginia, Florida, and Texas.

Aurora Roghair opened the night with a fourth-place finish in the 500 free "A" final, shaving two seconds off her previous best by clocking a 4:34.26. The Iowa City, Iowa, native now sits fourth in the "Stanford Top-10" times in the event.

Roghair also notched a PB in the morning session to qualify for the "A" final, setting a short-standing personal record of 4:35.34. Kayla Wilson and Natalie Mannion also competed in the prelims in the 500 free, clocking 4:41.15 and 4:43.95, respectively.

Stanford collected a pair of All-American honors in the 200 IM, as both Lucy Bell and Caroline Bricker qualified for Thursday's finals races. Bell also notched two personal bests on the day, shaving two seconds off her old "Stanford Top-10" time with a 1:53.50 in the morning slate before clocking a 1:52.64 in the "A" final to finish fourth.

Bricker posted a 1:54.32 in the morning prelims to qualify for the "B" final before ultimately finishing 10th overall in the event with a 1:53.87 in the evening session for the first All-American nod of her career.

A three-time relay All-American, Amy Tang earned the honor for the first time as an individual on Thursday night after placing 15th in the 50 free with a 21.90 "B" final time. Tang posted a PB in the prelims with a 21.75 to win the fourth heat of the morning.

Gigi Johnson also tabbed a career-best mark of 22.07 to place second in her respective heat, but it was not enough to move on to the finals. Lucy Thomas posted a 22.52 in her preliminary effort.

The 200 freestyle relay closed out the night, as the quartet of Gigi Johnson, Amy Tang, Anna Shaw, and Lillie Nordmann posted a group-best time of 1:27.43 to finish 11th overall in the event.

Thursday afternoon also saw the first diving action of the weekend with the 1-meter dive, as Emilie Moore finished 23rd in the prelims with a 260.90. Fellow diver Lauren Burch placed 35th with a 243.75.

Action resumes tomorrow morning with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 400 medley relay, with prelims beginning at 7 a.m. PT and finals at 3 p.m. PT.
