Top Five after Day Three

ATHENS, Ga. – Stanford collected six more All-America honors in Friday's action at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships as the Cardinal sits in fifth in the team standings with 177 points heading into tomorrow's final day.
 
Stanford is looking continue its run of top-ten finishes at every women's national championship meet, dating back to the 1974-75 season.
 
The night began with a 400 IM, as Stanford's IM tandem of Lucy Bell (4:01.23) and Caroline Bricker (4:02.14) each tabbed new personal bests to first third and fourth in the event respectively. This comes after a prelim session that saw Bricker post the second-fastest time in the morning with a 4:02.20, while Bell finished sixth in the preliminary session with a 4:04.26. Sam Tadder also competed in the prelim session, posting a time of 4:09.80.
 
Stanford saw another personal best in the 100 butterfly as Gigi Johnson went sub-51 seconds for the first time in her career, clocking a 50.99 to place seventh. Lillie Nordmann qualified for the "B" final in the event and finished 12th overall with a finals time of 51.38 after clocking a personal-best 51.23 earlier in the day. Charlotte Hook notched a 51.95 in her preliminary effort on Friday morning, but it was not enough to reach the evening finals.
 
Kayla Wilson and Aurora Roghair gave the Cardinal two more All-Americans in the 200 free, with Wilson finishing sixth with a 1:43.23 and Roghair placing 12th with a 1:43.21 in the career-best effort. Wilson posted her new personal-best in the prelims with a 1:42.88 to punch her ticket in the "A" final. Teammates Nordmann, Natalie Mannion, and Amy Tang also competed in the prelims but were unable to earn second swims.
 
The 400 medley relay wrapped up day three at the NCAA Championships, as the group of Mannion, Bell, Johnson, and Wilson posted a 3:39.63 to finish in 14th place.
 
Lucy Thomas was Stanford's lone prelim competitor in the 100 breast, missing the cut for the evening races after a 59.76 time in her heat race. Stanford did not have a competitor in either the 200 back or the 3-meter dive.
 
The NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships comes to a close tomorrow with the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and platform dive. Prelims will begin at 7 a.m. PT with the finals session to follow at 3 p.m. PT.
