SARASOTA, Fla. – The No. 8 Stanford men's rowing team opened its season at the IRA Sarasota Invitational on Friday at Nathan Benderson Park. 

The Cardinal competed against No. 3 Washington and No. 5 Harvard in two varsity eight races, placing third in the 1V8+ and the Cardinal 2V8+ boat was sixth against a mix of 2V8-4V8 boats among the same three schools. 

Washington earned the Andrea and Everett Peter Paup Cup, given to the annual UW-Stanford winner.

Stanford was timed in 6:03.77 in the 1V8 and 6:19.24 in the 2V8. 

On Saturday, both Stanford boats compete against Washington and Harvard, as well as No. 4 Yale and No. 7 Brown.
