Current, Future Cardinal Selected for U19 Camp

CHICAGO – U.S. Under-19 Women's Youth National Team head coach Carrie Kveton has selected a 24-player roster for the team's first training camp of the year, set for April 21-26 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The roster features three current Stanford players, as well as three who have signed on to play for the Cardinal beginning in the fall, resulting in Stanford players making up a quarter of the roster.

Following standout freshman campaigns during which they helped the Cardinal to the National Championship match, Mia Bhuta, Erica Grilione and Joelle Jung have been selected. Joining that trio are incoming freshmen Elizabeth Boamah, Charlotte Kohler and Sammy Smith – key players in a standout recruiting class announced by The Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe in December.

The roster features 10 college players and 14 youth club players, with Stanford accounting for nearly a third of the collegiate players selected. Twelve players, including Boamah, Kohler and Smith, return from the USA's bronze medal campaign at the 2023 Pan American Games in Chile, where the U-19 WYNT put on a strong showing against senior national teams from around North and South America.

Bhuta and Kohler also represented the USA at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India, with Kohler's three goals leading the team in scoring.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2005, are age-eligible for this U-19 WYNT cycle. For this camp, Kveton selected 11 players born in 2005 and 13 born in 2006. All players in the U-19 WYNT player pool are age-eligible for the upcoming 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, set for September in Colombia.
