STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford opened a three-match week with a 5-0 sweep of San Francisco Wednesday afternoon at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Stanford, now 22-3 on the year, swept the Dons for the second time this season on The Farm, most recently taking on USF March 25.
The Cardinal's lineup featured two new pairs: sophomores Line Andersson and Sophie Kubiak played on court two and sophomore Phoenix Clarke and junior Camdyn Doucet saw action on court five.
Sophomore Daria Gusarova and redshirt Emma Morris paced the Cardinal with a 21-13, 21-12 win on court four to earn Stanford's first point of the day, while Andersson and Kubiak followed with a 23-21, 21-13 victory on court two to take a 2-0 match lead. Senior Kate Reilly and freshman Clara Stowell secured the overall victory with a 22-20, 21-10 decision on court three.
The Cardinal returns to Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium Friday, welcoming No. 17 Arizona and Pacific to The Farm for weekday action at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
