Final Pac-12 Championship Begins Sunday

  • ·      The final Pac-12 championships take place on April 21-23 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington. This is the 37th time the event has been held in 38 years (no tournament in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
  • ·      Palouse Ridge Golf Club plays at par-72 and 6,324 yards.
  • ·      Stanford has won the Pac-12 championship as a team twice (1999, 2014) and has had an individual champion four times (Mhairi McKay – 1997, Albane Valenzuela – 2019, Rachel Heck – 2021, Rose Zhang – 2023).
  • ·      Last year, Rose Zhang won the Pac-12 individual championship by going 67-68-69-204. She claimed her tenth career win in 18 events, breaking the Stanford women’s golf record for career wins.
  • ·      Most recently, Stanford finished fifth in the PING/ASU Invitational at Arizona State. Paula Martin Sampedro finished tied for fourth, her seventh-straight top-10 finish to begin her collegiate career.
  • ·      Five current Cardinal were in action the week after Easter at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Megha Ganne and Paula Martin Sampedro advanced to the final round, as well as future Cardinal Nora Sundberg and Andrea Revuelta.
  • ·      Following this week’s Pac-12 championship, teams will be selected for the NCAA Regionals, which begin on May 6. Last year, Stanford won the Pullman Regional.
  • ·      Stanford is the top-ranked team in the country in the latest rankings from Clippd. UCLA is ranked No. 4 in the country and USC is ranked No. 8.
  • ·      The Cardinal are the only team in the country with two student-athletes ranked in the top-10 individually: Paula Martin Sampedro (No. 6) and Megha Ganne (No. 8).
  • ·      Stanford will send six to the Pac-12 championship: Paula Martin Sampedro, Megha Ganne, Sadie Englemann, Kelly Xu, Rachel Heck and Caroline Sturdza (alternate).
