STILLWATER, Okla. – Nishesh Basavareddy and Samir Banerjee have been chosen to compete in the NCAA singles tournament, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. This marks the second consecutive season both sophomores were selected for the event.
Basavareddy is a No. 9-16 seed overall and the automatic qualifier from the Pac-12. The Carmel, Indiana native is 12-1 on the season, with all 12 wins coming in the top singles position. Basavareddy is 7-0 against Pac-12 foes and 7-1 against ranked competition and has been ranked as high as No. 6 this season.
Banerjee holds a 14-9 record, including an 8-6 dual mark with three wins in the top position. Ranked as high as No. 29 this season, he holds four wins over Pac-12 foes and five victories against ranked competition.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 20-25 at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 16-19.
