Stanford Earns Top Seed

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford has earned the top seed at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships and will compete in the first of two qualifying sessions set to take place on Friday, April 19 in Columbus, Ohio. 

The Cardinal earned their seed with the nation's leading qualifying score heading into the meet with a 417.025. The opening qualifying session is slated for 10 a.m. PT inside Covelli Center, as Stanford will be grouped with No. 4 Illinois (411.813), No. 5 Nebraska (411.600), No. 8 California (399.388), No. 9 Navy (397.300) and No. 12 Greenville (392.888). 

The second qualifying session will begin at 4 p.m. PT and will include No. 2 Oklahoma (415.500), No. 3 Michigan (413.038), No. 6 Ohio State (406.413), No. 7 Penn State (405.175), No. 10 Air Force (394.238) and No. 11 Springfield (392.900). 

The top three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each qualifying session to the finals. Individual and team champions will be determined during the NCAA Championship finals on Saturday, April 20 beginning at 3 p.m. PT.

The Cardinal has captured nine NCAA titles, including each of the last four national championship. Stanford won the national championship in 2023 with a team score of 422.458 at the championships hosted by Penn State University, with Michigan taking runner-up honors with 419.889 points. Stanford is looking to become just the second men's gymnastics program to win five consecutive national titles (Nebraska, 1979-1983), previously winning in 1992, 1993, 1995, 2009, 2011, 2019 and 2021, 2022, and 2023.
