Defending Champs are NCAAs Bound

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford, the defending NCAA Women's Rowing Champion, heads back to the 2024 NCAA Championships regatta May 31 through June 2 in Bethel, Ohio at East Fork State Park. 

The Cardinal earned the Pac-12 Conference's final automatic bid to the regatta with its third consecutive conference championship title Sunday, topping California by 9.5 points. The NCAA announced 10 other automatic qualifiers and 11 at-large bids Tuesday afternoon as well as boat rankings and heat assignments for the first day of racing, May 31. 

The national championship regatta is a three-day event racing each team's varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four boats. The Cardinal's varsity eight boat enters the championship regatta as the No. 2 ranked boat, while the second varsity eight enters as the No. 3 ranked boat and Stanford's varsity four enters as the top-ranked boat. With its top-three boat rankings, Stanford earned the top boat lane (lane three) for all three of its heat races. 

Action for the Cardinal kicks off at 7 a.m. PT May 31 as the varsity eight boat races in heat two alongside Northeastern, Washington, Yale and Virginia. At 8 a.m. PT, Stanford's second varsity eight boat takes on Northeastern, Rutgers, Princeton, Virginia and Jacksonville in heat three, and the Cardinal's first day of action ends as the varsity four boat competes in heat one against Syracuse, Ohio State, Washington and Gonzaga at 8:24 a.m. PT.
