Olympic Greatness

Katie Ledecky captures American record-tying 8th Olympic gold while Torri Huske secures silver for her third medal in Paris.

PARIS - The legend continues to grow for Katie Ledecky, claiming the 1500 free medal in dominating fashion for her 8th career Olympic gold.

Ledecky broke her own Olympic record with a time of 15:30.02 and now holds the top 20 times in World history in the event.

The win tied Ledecky for both the most Olympics gold medals (8) and most total Olympic medals (12) by an American woman, sharing the record with fellow Cardinal alum.

Ledecky will look to surpass the mark later in the week, set to compete in the 800 free beginning Friday.

In the 100 free, Torri Huske continued her incredible run in Paris with a silver medal finish, clocking a 52.29 from lane 1 to shatter her previous lifetime best in the event.

It is Huske's third medal of the 2024 Olympics, winning her first career Olympic gold in the 100 fly on Sunday and claiming silver with Team USA in the 4x100 free relay.

Tuesday's silver medal finish ends Huske's individual Olympic program, however, the Arlington, Va., native could have the opportunity to compete in the 4x100 mixed medley relay and 4x100 women's medley later this week.
