FULLERTON, Calif. – Redshirt junior Andrea Kitahata scored for the third consecutive match, finding the back of the net in just the third minute, as No. 2 Stanford (4-0) held on to defeat Cal State Fullerton (2-1) 1-0 on Sunday on the road from Titan Stadium.
Kitahata ran down a loose ball near the penalty spot, cut the ball to her left, shifted back to her right, and delivered a shot to the upper-right corner of the goal for the eventual game-winner.
The native of Hillsborough, Calif. has now contributed eight points on the year. She is the first Cardinal to score in three consecutive matches since Maya Doms tallied a goal in each of the final three matches in 2023.
Stanford, which finished the match with a 27-5 advantage in shots, forced Cal State Fullerton’s Mia Ranson into 13 saves. Kitahata contributed seven total shots, putting four on frame, while sophomore Mia Bhuta directed five of her six on target.
