The NFL is discovering just how good rookie kicker Joshua Karty is. Karty, who made 41 of 45 field-goal attempts over his final two seasons at Stanford, struck the winner for the Rams against San Francisco on Sunday to highlight performances by Stanford alums in Week 3 of the NFL season.
The following is a summary of how former Cardinal fared in the NFL this week:
Rookie Joshua Karty kicked a 37-yard field goal with two seconds left to lift the Los Angeles Rams to a 27-24 victory over visiting San Francisco. Karty, who kicked a 33-yarder to cut the Rams’ fourth-quarter deficit to 24-17, is perfect this season – 5-for-5 on field-goal tries and 6-for-6 on extra points. Rams starting tight end Colby Parkinson had three catches for 21 yards. Parkinson played all 58 of the Rams’ offensive plays. 49ers linebacker Curtis Robinson played 21 downs on special teams.

New Orleans starting cornerback Paulson Adebo had a career-high 10 solo tackles and tied his career high with 10 total tackles in a 15-12 loss to visiting Philadelphia. Adebo also had a tackle for loss and broke up a pass while playing all 72 defensive snaps. Eagles’ defensive tackle Thomas Booker played 10 snaps and batted down a fourth-quarter pass.
Arizona starting receiver Michael Wilson had a career-high eight catches for 64 yards in the Cardinals’ 20-13 loss to visiting Detroit. Wilson, who had a 30-yarder nullified by penalty, caught a 28-yard pass in the fourth quarter to help set up a field goal. Wilson played 53 (90 percent) of the Cardinals’ offensive plays. Teammate Elijah Higgins had one catch for 11 yards from his tight end position. Higgins played 19 offensive downs and 13 on special teams.
Buffalo defensive end Casey Toohill had a sack, fumble recovery, tackle for loss, quarterback hurry, and two tackles in the Bills’ 47-10 victory over visiting Jacksonville on Monday night that allowed them to improve to 3-0. It was Toohill’s first sack for the Bills, after five sacks last year for Washington. Toohill played 29 defensive snaps and six on special teams. Jaguars offensive tackle Walker Little played 24 offensive snaps and two on special teams.

Kansas City starting strong safety Justin Reid had five tackles, including a tackle for loss, in the Chiefs’ 22-17 victory in Atlanta on Sunday night that allowed them to improve to 3-0. Reid played 59 (97 percent) of Kansas City’s defensive plays, and three on special teams. Falcons starting center Drew Dalman suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter and did not return.
Washington starting tight end Zach Ertz had a team-high five receptions for 38 yards in the Commanders’ 38-33 victory at Cincinnati on Monday night. Ertz caught a pass on all five targets and played 38 offensive snaps and one on special teams.
Minnesota starting nose tackle Harrison Phillips had a solo tackle and helped limit Houston to 38 yards on the ground in the Vikings’ 34-7 victory over the visiting Texans that allowed them to improve to 3-0. Phillips tipped a pass on Houston’s first series that was intercepted, leading to the Vikings’ first touchdown for a 7-0 lead. Phillips played 33 defensive snaps. Houston starting tight end Dalton Schultz had two catches for 11 yards while playing 96 percent of the Texans’ offensive plays. Houston backup quarterback Davis Mills received his first action of the regular season, entering in the fourth quarter and driving the Texans 72 yards. He completed 7 of 12 passes for 79 yards without an interception. Mills became the 22nd Stanford alum to play during the 2024 NFL regular season.
New York Jets defensive tackle Solomon Thomas shared a sack, had a quarterback hurry, and made two tackles in a 24-3 victory over visiting New England on Thursday night. Thomas played 26 defensive downs and two on special teams. He also played two offensive downs, coming in as a tackle eligible. Patriots’ starting tight end Austin Hooper had one catch for 19 yards, and had another for 21 yards nullified by penalty. Hooper was in on 30 offensive snaps.
New York Giants starting inside linebacker Bobby Okereke had eight tackles and shared a sack in a 21-15 victory at Cleveland on Sunday. Okereke played all 67 defensive downs for the Giants.
Los Angeles Chargers receiver Simi Fehoko had a 17-yard catch – his first catch of the season – in a 20-10 loss at Pittsburgh. It was the Chargers’ third-longest play. Fehoko played 33 offensive snaps and five on special teams.
Miami’s Jake Bailey averaged 46.2 yards on six punts in the Dolphins’ 24-3 loss at Seattle. Bailey had three punts inside the 20-yard line, including a 51-yarder that was downed at the 10. He also had a 57-yarder downed at the 5 that was nullified by penalty. Bailey also was a holder on placekicks.
Las Vegas offensive guard Andrus Peat played three special teams downs in the Raiders’ 36-22 loss to visiting Carolina.
Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Foster Sarell did not play.
Philadelphia quarterback Tanner McKee, Miami cornerback Ethan Bonner, and Cincinnati receiver Trenton Irwin were inactive.
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Tucker Fisk and Washington receiver Brycen Tremayne were on practice squads.
San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey and Pittsburgh offensive guard Nate Herbig were on the injured reserve list.
