DAVIS, Calif. – In the Cardinal’s first game as the No. 1 team in the country this afternoon, Stanford moved to 14-1 on the season with a 14-8 at No. 13 UC Davis. Dash McFarland led all scorers with a hat trick to power the Card offense.
Stanford jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, and would finish the first half with a 7-4 advantage. The second half started with back-to-back goals for the Cardinal, who outscored the Aggies 7-4 in the second half to wrap the win.
Riley Pittman and Ethan Parrish joined McFarland as multi-goal scorers, each contributing a pair as 10 different Stanford players found the back of the net. Jackson Painter led the way with three assists in addition to a goal scored.
The Cardinal returns to MPSF play next weekend, heading to Berkeley to take on No. 8 California on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. PT. Stanford topped the Golden Bears last month at the MPSF Invitational, winning 15-10 in the tournament’s third-place game.
