SEATTLE – Samir Banerjee and Nico Godsick punched their tickets to the NCAA Doubles Championship by winning the ITA Northwest Regional Championship on Oct. 22 on Washington’s campus. The duo led the Cardinal at the tournament, while five players competed in the singles draw.
Banerjee and Godsick went 5-0 with wins over pairs from UC Davis, Portland, Washington, Gonzaga and California, the last of which came against an ITA top-25 tandem. The Stanford duo, ranked No. 32 nationally, earned the region’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA doubles event in Waco. Kyle Kang and Harsh Hemang Parikh also competed in doubles, going 1-1 with a win over a pair from Pacific.
Kang and Henry von der Schulenburg, making his Stanford debut, led the Cardinal in singles with 3-1 records and quarterfinal appearances. Godsick and Max Basing each went 2-1 overall, advancing to the round of 16, while Parikh went 1-1 and reached the round of 32.
Stanford returns to action Oct. 28 at the ITF 15K in Las Vegas, while the next opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships will be Nov. 7-10 at ITA Sectionals, hosted by Pepperdine in Malibu, California.
