STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Kami Miner has been selected the ACC Setter of the Week for the sixth time this season, while middle blocker Sami Francis has been voted the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for a third time, the conference announced Monday.
The pair led Stanford in a pair of ranked wins at No. 19 Georgia Tech before closing out the regular season with a four-set win over No. 3 Louisville at home. Miner shares the weekly honor with NC State’s Naomi Cabello.
Miner guided the Cardinal offense, dishing out 12.22 assists per set to go with 3.44 digs per set and 1.44 blocks per set. At Georgia Tech, Miner recorded 50 assists and a team-high 16 digs to go with a career-high eight blocks. In a four-set win against Louisville, Miner tied her career-high with 60 assists to go with 15 digs, four kills and five blocks. She now has a team-leading 16 double-doubles on the season. Among the 60 assists on Saturday was the 5,000th of her career. She becomes just the fifth player in program history to hit that milestone.
Francis anchored the Stanford defense, averaging 2.22 blocks per set to go with 2.33 kills on .300 hitting. In a reverse sweep at Georgia Tech, Francis racked up 11 blocks and had tallied 11 kills on .381 hitting for her first collegiate double-double. Stanford had 13.0 blocks as a team and held the Yellow Jackets to .178 hitting. In a four-set win over Louisville, she posted nine blocks, including three solo, two digs and 10 kills.
Stanford begins its postseason run on Friday at home against Sacramento State at 7 p.m. The Cardinal is the No. 5 overall seed for the tournament and the No. 2 seed in the Louisville Regional.
