STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 5 Cardinal put on a show in front of a home crowd, taking down No. 6 Virginia on The Farm to move to a perfect 4-0 on the season. The win was the Card’s first home win since 2020, and first home game since January 2023.
The Cardinal jumped out early with wins from Riya Navani, Yuvna Gupta and Maeve Baker to take a 3-0 lead. Navani, playing on the 1s court as a freshman, is now 4-1 to start the season. Gupta and Baker each move to a perfect 4-0 on the year.
Navani’s win came over Meagan Best, the two-time defending MASC Player of the Year and a three-time CSA All-American.
Mariana Narvaez Dardon picked up the clinching win, taking home a victory on court three to seal the Stanford win.
Amelie Haworth and Khushi Kukadia picked up wins on the number four and eight courts, respectively.
Through four competitions, the Card boasts five different players that have yet to lose: Navani, Dardon, Gupta, Baker and Haworth.
The Cardinal is back in action next Friday, heading east to take on No. 1 Harvard on Jan. 24.
