DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Nunu Agara had her seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but Stanford fell on the road at No. 16 Duke on Sunday, 74-49.

Agara led the Cardinal underclassmen, which combined to score 44 of Stanford’s 49. Freshman Shay Ijiwoye and sophomore Courtney Ogden each had eight, sophomore Chloe Clardy added seven and freshman Kennedy Umeh had six.

Stanford, down by as many as 25 midway through the third quarter, closed to within 14 early in the fourth thanks to a 14-3 run punctuated by its freshmen. After the first five points came from Agara and Ogden, it was Umeh who made patient moves in the low post for a couple of buckets. Ijiwoye followed with a tough finish driving left and then knocked down a triple from the left wing to force a Duke timeout with 6:57 remaining and Stanford down 59-45.

With the Cardinal down a single point early in the second quarter, Duke grabbed control with a 14-0 run to go up 32-17. Ogden and Clardy made layups to stem the tide, but the Blue Devils responded with an 11-0 spurt to end the period and go up 43-21 at the break.

The second-quarter struggles for Stanford included going 3-12 from the field and seven turnovers, while Duke made 11-of-18.

Agara now has five double-doubles in Stanford’s last seven games and is averaging 17.4 points and 8.2 rebounds this season.

After playing five of its first seven ACC games on the road, Stanford returns home for three straight in Maples Pavilion, beginning with rival Cal on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
