Burkhart Sweeps Gymnast of the Week Honors

The senior earns recognition from both College Gymnastics Association (CGA) and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF)

STANFORD, Calif. - Cardinal senior Taylor Burkhart was named Gymnast of the Week honors at both the national and conference level this week, earning recognition from both the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).

Stanford competed in two meets last week (Cal Benefit Cup and Rocky Mountain Open), where Burkhart finished in the top three in six of his ten events.

Last Monday against No. 8 California, Burkhart turned in four top-three event finishes (FX, PH, SR, VT), scoring an NCAA-best 80.400 in the all-around to earn a share of the title alongside teammate Colt Walker

Burkhart's impressive week continued at the Rocky Mountain Open, where the Arvada, Colo., native scored a nation-leading 14.750 to win the vault title, along with a third-place effort on floor.

It is Burkhart's first time being named National Gymnast of the Week in his career and just his second career MPSF Gymnast of the Week honor, last earning the accolade on Jan. 24, 2023.

No. 1 Stanford returns to action for the Stanford Open on Jan. 25, playing host to No. 4 Ohio State and No. 9 California at 7 p.m. PT on Virti.us.
