STANFORD, Calif. – Libero Evan Porter has been named the Defensive Player of the Week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the league announced today.
Porter averaged a team-best 2.86 digs per set as the Cardinal won a pair of matches in the First Point Collegiate Challenge in Austin, Texas last weekend. He also had just two reception errors in a combined 51 total attempts.
The freshman tallied five digs in a sweep over No. 13 Ohio State. He followed up with a career-high 15 digs and two assists in a four-set win over No. 14 Penn State - the most digs in a match by an MPSF player this season.
Stanford is back in action on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 against No. 2 UC Irvine. Friday’s match will be held in Burnham Pavilion, while the Cardinal and Anteaters will face off on Saturday in Maples Pavilion.
