STANFORD, Calif. - Cardinal forward Allison Kuzyk is set to represent her home nation later this Spring, as Field Hockey Canada announced its FIH Nations Cup team on Thursday morning.
The third edition of the FIH Nations Cup will take place from February 23 to March 2 in Santiago, Chile, where Kuzyk will make her senior-level international debut and become Stanford's first-ever representative in the event. Team Canada's pool will include the United States, Chile, and Japan.
“Nations Cup is an important performance event for us. World Cup qualification is a matter of building momentum, confidence and successes week in and out, this event is a measure of what needs to be put in consistently and we will learn where we have or have not had success,” Canada head coach Sheldon Rostron said. “We have been very specific over the past months working on elements to elevate our style of play. Progress has been made, and this event is the perfect opportunity to make new growth and learnings as well as execute. The more we play, the more we play together and the more we execute our plans on the field, the more this team will grow.”
Kuzyk started 13 of her 17 appearances in her lone season on The Farm, finishing the year third on the team in goals (5) and second in points (12). After scoring three goals in Stanford's first six games, Kuzyk provided some key moments down the stretch for the Cardinal. Notably, the Vancouver native found the back of the net against California to help clinch the program's first ACC tournament berth and added another goal in Stanford's opening-round matchup against Boston College.
Before she arrived at Stanford, Kuzyk spent four seasons at Penn where she was a two-time All-Ivy selection. A 2023 NFCHA First Team All-Region Team selection, Kuzyk tallied 23 goals and 47 assists during her time with the Quakers and finished second in the Ivy League in all scoring categories in 2023.
