Stanford Competes at Wheaton

Cardinal earns two podium placements

NORTON, Mass. — Stanford produced two strong performances in its first road trip of the season, taking a pair of podium finishes in the team and duet events against Wheaton College (Ma.) on Saturday.

Stanford, which took down defending national champions Incarnate Word at home to open the season on Jan. 18, siezed the top honor in the team portion of the meet with the group of Elisa Brunel, Yujin Chang, Haley Chu, Emily Ding, Cambell McMillan, Atira O’Neil and Manu Pindi earning a total routine score of 190.4, clearing Wheaton by 44 points.

In the duet, Brunel and Rau - who were both All-MPSF selections last year - took second place in the duet to round out the competition for the Cardinal. Stanford did not compete in the solo or trio portion of Saturday’s meet.

Stanford continues the road stretch this weekend looking to repeat as champions of the Jessica Beck Invitational on  Feb. 1 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio. The Cardinal took top honors in three of the four events last year en route to its meet win.
