STANFORD, Calif. — Elise Murphy’s six assists and Ava Arceri’s five goals highlighted a dominant offensive display as No. 15 Stanford extended its home win streak to 16 games with a 20-3 win over the UC Davis Aggies on Saturday.
Stanford dominated in the early going, jumping out to a 5-0 lead just over seven minutes into the contest with Rylee Bouvier securing a brace alongside tallies from Aliya Polisky, Lindsey Devir and Lexi Rodell. The Cardinal tacked on another three-unanswered including Virginia Zapletal and Amanda Lawson both scoring their first collegiate goal as the Cardinal jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
Following a late first-quarter tally from the Aggies, Stanford went on a 6-0 run to close the half with Polsiky completing her third-consecutive hat trick while Arceri, Devir and Jordyn Case got in on the scoring as Stanford took a 14-1 lead into the half.
In the second half, Murphy and Arceri took over for the Cardinal, as the former connected with the latter on two more occasions in the fourth quarter to counter two quick goals from the visitors. Arceri, who completed the hat trick with the opening goal of the fourth quarter, tallied two more times as the Cardinal put 20 on the board.
Defensively, Stanford continued its dominant start to the season, limiting UC Davis to just three goals including two scoreless quarters as the Cardinal have now held the opposition scoreless in a frame three times this season. Stanford limited the Aggies to nine shots on goal while also tying a season high in caused turnovers with 12 on the afternoon. In goal, Lucy Pearson collected her third win while Ella Morton saw her first collegiate action, grabbing two saves including one on the doorstep late in the fourth quarter to preserve a perfect outing for the freshman.
Stanford is back in action this week on Saturday, February 22, traveling to No. 8 Virginia for its debut ACC bout. Opening draw in Charlottesville, Va. is slated for 9 a.m. PT.
