STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford diver Hunter Hollenbeck and soccer player Andrea Kitahata have been placed on the ACC Excellence Award list.
The ACC Excellence Award recognizes outstanding graduates from ACC member institutions. The goal of the award is to highlight the students embodying the student-athlete ideal. The awardees are exemplary students, athletes, and contributors to the community and society and serve as an example to their fellow students.
Kitahata also has been named as a Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Award recipient and awarded a postgraduate scholarship of $9,000 toward her graduate education.
Kitahata is a redshirt junior from nearby Hillsborough, California, and a two-time all-conference selection. A forward, she has helped the Cardinal to back-to-back College Cup appearances.
Kitahata is working toward her Master of Science in Sustainability Science and Practice and has plans to pursue an MBA or attend law school after her playing career is over.
Hollenbeck is a graduate student from Okemos, Michigan. He is working toward his M.S. in Electrical Engineering, having already earned his bachelor’s in the same discipline. Hollenbeck also has served in various positions in athletics, most notably as a co-president for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
After earning his master’s, he will be working as an emerging signals engineer for a subsidiary of Raytheon, in Washington, D.C.
