Cardinal Concludes at Amer Ari

TK Chantananuwat earns first collegiate top-10 finish

WAIMEA, Hawaii — TK Chantananuwat’s 3-under on the final day secured his first collegiate top-10 appearance as the Stanford men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on Saturday. The Cardinal, which 35-under, finished tied for 11th among the 20 teams competing. 

Chantananuwat had a strong weekend for the Cardinal, ushering his way into the top 10 after the opening round with a career-best 6-under through 18 holes. He then rattled off a 5-under card yesterday, before a string of three late birdies on Saturday allowed him to end the afternoon 3-under while shooting 14-under for the weekend to place in a tie for 10th. 

Jay Leng and Ethan Gao had strong outings as well, battling throughout the afternoon to register scorecards at 3-under. Leng overcame early bogeys before an eagle on hole two slotted him back into the top-30, ultimately placing 28th. Gao, who improved his position on the final day, registered three birdies in his first 10 holes before battling back and forth in the final eight holes to shoot 6-under on the weekend. 

Nathan Wang and Brian Ma saw opposite sides of the even line with Wang shooting 1-under while Ma went 1-over. Wang, who opened the tournament strong, holed five birdies on Saturday to claim 63rd while carding 4-under while Ma earned three birdies to claim 88th. Logan Kim slotted himself 80th overall while shooting 1-under while independent. 

Stanford is back in action on Feb. 17-19 at The Prestige in La Quinta, Calif.
