STANFORD, Calif. – No. 14 Stanford recorded its third 197.000-or-better total at home this season, finishing second at its quad meet Friday evening in Maples Pavilion.
No. 5 California won the meet with a team total of 197.675, Stanford placed second with a total of 197.025, No. 12 Oregon State finished third with a score of 196.625 and UC Davis earned a fourth-place finish with a final tally of 195.300.
Berkeley’s Mya Lauzon won the all-around title, guided by the top score on floor and a share of the beam event win. Senior Brenna Neault brought home the Cardinal’s lone event win of the night, sharing the beam’s top score—her team-leading third title of the year.
The Cardinal kicked off the night on vault, earning a 49.025 apparatus total, led by Roberts’ third consecutive 9.900 score. Seniors Anapaula Gutierrez and Brenna Neault, along with freshman Kendra Chang, posted scores of 9.800, while freshman Ui Soma added a 9.725 in just her second collegiate vault.
Stanford then moved to bars, posting a 49.325 team total, highlighted by a 9.900 from Neault. Soma, juniors Ava Sorrento and Anna Roberts, each added scores of 9.875—Sorrento’s matching her season best—and Gutierrez opened the rotation with a 9.800.
Neault led the way on beam with another 9.900+ score, this time a 9.925 in the fourth spot of the lineup. The Cardinal’s 49.275 beam score was bolstered by sophomore Temple Landry posting a 9.875 in the second spot, Roberts adding a 9.850 in the fifth spot, and fellow juniors Claire Dean and Ashley Carter earning scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively.
Stanford saved its best rotation for last, matching its season-best floor total for the second consecutive meet with a 49.400 team score. Roberts and sophomore Sienna Robinson led the way with scores of 9.900 each, while Carter and freshman Alana Walker matched their career-best scores of 9.875. Dean and Neault posted scores of 9.850 in the leadoff and anchor spots to complete the scoring routines.
The Cardinal heads back on the road for its next competition, traveling to Los Angeles to take on current No. 3 UCLA on March 9. The meet, televised by the Big Ten Network, is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
