No. 13 Cardinal Places Second at Haas Quad Meet #2

Stanford posted its third-best road total of the year of 196.975

BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 13 Stanford completed its regular-season slate Sunday, earning its third-best road score of the year with a 196.975 at the Haas Quad Meet #2 in Berkeley, Calif.

Host No. 6 California won the meet with a team total of 197.675, followed by the Cardinal’s 196.975, Arizona State’s 196.250 and San Jose State’s 194.150. 

Junior Taralyn Nguyen won her first event title of the season with a 2025-best vault of 9.925, the last routine of the meet for the Cardinal. Freshman Ui Soma won her second bars title of the year, posting a collegiate-best matching 9.950. She shared the title with Cal’s Madelyn Williams. 

The Cardinal started its afternoon on bars, tabbing its second-best team score of the year on the event with 49.425. Freshman Ui Soma highlighted the rotation, anchoring the lineup with a collegiate-best matching 9.950. Both junior Anna Roberts and sophomore Sienna Robinson posted scores of 9.900, Robinson’s effort a new career-best while senior Anapaula Gutierrez led off with a 9.850 and senior Brenna Neault added a 9.825.

In Stanford's second rotation, the Cardinal posted a team score of 49.000 on beam led by Neault’s 9.900 in the fourth spot of the lineup. It marked her fourth consecutive beam performance of at least 9.900 on the apparatus. Sophomore Temple Landry put up a 9.875, her fifth straight performance of 9.875-or-better, while junior Claire Dean started the rotation with a 9.825, fellow junior Ashley Carter posted a 9.800 in the third spot and Roberts posted a 9.600.

It was then on to floor as the Cardinal posted a 49.325 team total led by lead-off Dean’s 9.900. Nguyen and Carter each added scores of 9.875, while Neault posted a 9.850 and Roberts added a 9.825.  

The Cardinal ended its night with its second-best vault rotation of the year, scoring 49.225, led by a season-best vault score from Nguyen of 9.925. Roberts set her fellow junior up for a big score with a 9.900 in the fifth spot of the lineup, Gutierrez posted a 9.825 and Soma added a 9.800. Both Neault and freshman Kendra Chang earned scores of 9.775 in the first two spots of the rotation. 

Stanford now looks forward to the 2025 ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Saturday, March 22. The Cardinal will compete in the evening session, televised on the ACC Network, slated to begin at 4 p.m. PT.
