STANFORD, Calif. — Three under-par outings headlined a successful surge into the top 10 as the Stanford men’s golf team wrapped up competition at The Goodwin on Saturday night. Stanford, which was one of five teams to shoot under-par on the final round, shot the best round of the day at 7-under to finish eighth at 6-over for the weekend.
With a late surge in the final round, Jay Leng took the team lead in his final nine holes of the weekend, earning four birdies along the way to finish 1-under. Leng’s birdie on his penultimate hole turned out to be the difference as he shot inside the top 15, finishing 12th overall. TK Chantananuwat had a strong weekend as well, turning in a 1-over card for the day and an even-par finish across the 56 holes. Chantananuwat battled back from a 2-over start to the afternoon, firing off two birdies on his final nine holes to finish 16th overall.
Nathan Wang showed out in the finale of The Goodwin, ripping four birdies on the back-nine to start off the afternoon. Wang then earned a round-best 5-under through 10 holes before finishing a respectable 3-under for the day and just outside the top 20, finishing 21st. Elsewhere, Logan Kim fired back from a tough first few days, breaking par with a card of 1-under, 69 on his final day courtesy of two birdies and an eagle, the latter of which coming with three holes to play. Kim finished at 8-over for the weekend which was good for 83rd.
Ethan Gao did well to battle through a tough opening stretch, turning three birdies on the afternoon while battling an up-and-down day on the front-nine portion. Gao finished within the top 100 at 11-over for the weekend.
Independently, Stanford’s trio of Kush Arora, Dean Greyserman, and Brian Ma placed well on the final day as part of Stanford’s strong third round. Arora climbed into the top 100 with 1-under card, posting five birdies through his round to finish the tournament at 9-over. Greyserman, who paired alongside his fellow Cardinal during the round, posted three birdies to finish the weekend at 7-over while Ma had a solid start to the day on the back-nine before turning in a 4-over card, finishing the weekend at 14-over.
Stanford is back in action in just over two weeks, heading to Santa Cruz to take part in the Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State University from April 14-16 at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
