Power Surge » The Cardinal has hit the ball with plenty of power to start 2025. Through 17 games, the team boasts 35 home runs. Last season, in 57 games, Stanford hit 56. The 35 homers have come from 11 different players, including first-career home runs from juniors River Mahler and Ella Murchison.

Junior Taryn Kern leads the team with six on the season, already just one shy of her seven from all of 2024. The freshmen duo of Joie Economides and Sydney Boulaphinh have combined for eight. The Card made it to the WCWS in 2023 with just 26 home runs hit in the entire season. The 35 home runs in 2025 are already just four shy of the ninth-most in a single season in program history.

Inaugural ACC Outlook » Stanford opened ACC play at Georgia Tech last weekend, taking two out of three from the Yellow Jackets. The Cardinal was picked to finish fourth in the conference in the preseason coaches poll.

Ice Cold River » Junior River Mahler leads the team in RBI this season, and is on pace for a career year thanks to timely hitting. With runners on base, Mahler is 17-for-34 on the season to lead the team with a .500 average. Her clutch hitting numbers include a .458 average (11-for-24) with runners in scoring position, and has driven in a run every time she's been at bat with a runner on third and less than two outs (7-for-7).

Mahler's two runs batted in on Sunday gave her 21 on the season, matching her total from her freshman season (62 games) and just two shy of her career-best 23 from last year (66 games). Mahler drove in two runs in each of last weekend's three games.

Compound Growth » Since Jessica Allister took over the program ahead of the 2018 season, the Cardinal has scored more runs than the previous season every year – with the exception of the COVID-condensed 2020 season.
