Kennedy Earns ACC Weekly Honor

Stanford junior Sophia Kennedy is ACC's Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford sophomore Sophia Kennedy was named Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference for her performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday.

Kennedy was sixth in the 5,000 meters in 15:11.12 amidst a high-caliber invitational field in Azusa. She was fifth among collegians with all five running the fastest times in NCAA Division I outdoors this year. The time ranks her No. 1 in the ACC.

During a collegiate outdoor season, Kennedy jumps to No. 10 on the all-time collegiate list and the time is the 13th fastest.

Including indoors and outdoors on all dates in a calendar year, Kennedy’s time is the 23rd-fastest in collegiate history.

Kennedy ran the fastest outdoor 5,000 ever by a Stanford woman during a collegiate season. She is No. 2 on Stanford's all-time outdoor list for all dates.

Kennedy, the ACC indoor 3,000 champion, also was an ACC Performer of the Week in cross country on Sept. 3, 2024, becoming the first Stanford athlete in any sport to receive a weekly honor from the conference.
