No. 25 Georgia Tech Sweeps Cardinal

Stanford has dropped nine consecutive ACC games

STANFORD, Calif. – For the second consecutive day, No. 25 Georgia Tech (26-6, 11-4 ACC) poured it on late en route to victory over Stanford (17-12, 5-10 ACC), this time scoring four in the sixth and nine in the seventh to earn an 18-2 victory and a sweep of the Cardinal on Sunday from Sunken Diamond.

The Yellow Jackets connected for four home runs in the win, including a pair of grand slams. Caleb Daniel hit a grand slam in the sixth and pinch-hitter Nahanael Coupet launched a grand slam in the seventh.

Kyle Lodise and Drew Burress also homered, with Burress’ three-run shot in the seventh inning serving as his second in as many games and his 12th of the year.

Junior right-hander Matt Scott made the start and was charged with the loss after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts over five innings. Scott dropped to 4-2 on the season.

Georgia Tech starter Caden Spivey earned the victory and improved to 2-0 after allowing one run on six hits and a walk over five innings.

Stanford will look to snap a three-game skid on Monday when it hosts UC Davis at 6:05 p.m.
