STANFORD, Calif. – Renowned both on and off the court for his significant contributions to Stanford and the student-athlete experience across the country, Eric Reveno, the James C. Gaither Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach, has been named the recipient of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge's 2025 Standout Coach Award.
“It’s an honor to receive the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge’s 2025 Standout Coach Award on behalf of Stanford University, and especially on behalf of Megan Swezey Fogarty, Peggy Propp, Lisa Kay Solomon, John Tanner, Zach Buckey, Atira O’Neil, and Jadon Noah Urogdy, a scrappy crew that simply wanted to increase nonpartisan voter participation on campus,” said Reveno. “I believe athletics can lead in this space - on any campus - and in many ways, we should lead. I’m grateful to be at Stanford, where we’ve been able to break down silos and strengthen our community by showing up together for democracy.”
One of the nation’s leading advocates for the All Vote, No Play movement, Reveno previously earned the Guardians of the Game Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches in 2021 after he led the national effort for Election Day to be an off-day for student-athletes to be able to vote and encourage civic engagement.
Reveno, whose activism was profiled by ESPN in 2020, worked closely with the NCAA and NABC to develop the framework in place today. The movement resulted in historic NCAA legislation that has made profound impacts on the Farm and across the country.
A former head coach at Portland who also spent time at Georgia Tech and Oregon State, Reveno returned to Stanford, his alma mater, for his second stint on the coaching staff in 2024. Across his tenure at Stanford, he has helped lead the Cardinal to eight 20-win seasons, three 30-win seasons, eight NCAA Tournament appearances, an NCAA Final Four in 1998, three years with a No. 1 national ranking and four Pacific-10 Conference Championships.
The Cardinal went 21-14 in 2024-25, marking the program’s best record since 2020 while tying a program record for home victories in its first season in the ACC.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge is a national awards program. By recognizing colleges and universities for their commitment to increasing student voting rates, ALL IN encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, make democratic participation a core value on their campus, and cultivate generations of engaged citizens who are essential to a healthy democracy.

"Coach Eric Reveno embodies the true essence of building champions and teammates for life by seeing potential far beyond the court. He recognizes that developing civic muscles is just as crucial as physical conditioning, transforming his players into not just better athletes, but engaged citizens and teammates. Through #AllVoteNoPlay, Coach Rev and the impact it’s made to engage coaches and athletes across the country models that the most impactful coaching happens when you invest in the whole person - teaching young athletes that their power extends from the locker room into their communities. His vision reminds us that true champions are measured not just by victories, but by their courage to stand up, speak out, and shape the future they'll inherit.” – Lisa Kay Solomon, bestselling author, Stanford d.school lecturer, and co-founder, The Team
