Women's Water Polo Wins 10th National Championship

No. 1 Stanford’s stingy defense powered a second-half surge to outlast No. 3 USC 11-7 on Sunday afternoon to capture the 2025 NCAA Championship.

The nation's only program to have participated at every NCAA Championship since the event's inception in 2001, Stanford claimed its 10th NCAA title overall and third in four seasons. The Cardinal also secured national championships in 2023, 2022, 2019, 2017, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2002.

The winningest program in collegiate water polo, Stanford (25-1, 5-1 MPSF) put the finishing touches on a dominant campaign. In addition to producing one of only four 15-0 starts in school history, the Cardinal recorded three wins apiece over fellow contenders USC and UCLA while holding the nation’s No. 1 ranking for most of the season. It’s also the fourth time in school history Stanford won both the NCAA and MPSF crowns, having completed the double-dip in 2023, 2022 and 2014.

WGOLF Wins 2025 Norman Regional 5-6-25

Norman Regional Champions

Weather impacted the NCAA Norman Regional in a major way, forcing the field to play 36 holes on Monday and wait anxiously for the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Top-seeded Stanford entered the day pacing the field and finished that way once again, winning the Norman Regional to secure its seventh NCAA Regional win since 2016. Additionally, Andrea Revuelta won her second tournament in a row to claim individual medalist honors.

The 2025 NCAA Championship begins on May 16 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Stanford is the defending NCAA champion after beating Auburn, USC, and UCLA in match play in 2024. The Cardinal has won two of the last three NCAA titles and three overall since the tournament format switched to match play. Stanford has made the match play portion of the NCAA Championship every season since it was instituted in 2015.

Super Regional Champions

Finishing an unbeaten home slate with a win in the NCAA Super Regionals, No. 5 Stanford men’s tennis shut out No. 13 South Carolina, 4-0, on Friday at Arrillaga Tennis Center-Taube Pavilion.

The Cardinal improves to 25-5 on the season, the most since winning 25 in 2003, while ending the campaign 12-0 at home. The Cardinal’s NCAA quarterfinals appearance is its first since 2012.

Stanford will take on No. 12 Mississippi State on Friday, May 16, in Waco, Texas, on the campus of Baylor.

Lacrosse Celebration

Season ends in overtime thriller

A furious fourth-quarter comeback and a difference of three inches was not enough to secure a second-straight weekend of postseason lacrosse as the No. 10/9 Cardinal fell in overtime to No. 4 Florida, 13-12, on Sunday afternoon. Stanford ends the season with the best record in the Danielle Spencer era at 15-6, tying the mark for the second-most wins in a single-season in program history with 15.

Arceri and Polisky both finished the afternoon with hat tricks as Polisky sets a new, single-season goal record with her 65th of the season. Arceri finishes the campaign having tallied in every competition for the Cardinal. Defensively, Stanford finished the afternoon with seven caused turnovers while Pearson made six saves.

Season Ends in Supers

Stanford dropped a pair of three-setters late and the No. 25 Cardinal had its season end with a 4-3 loss at No. 20 Oklahoma State in the Super Regionals on Saturday.

The Cardinal finishes its season, the first under Peter and Helen Bing Director of Women’s Tennis Frankie Brennan, with a 17-9 record, its 43rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and its 42nd trip to the Round of 16. Stanford, which hadn’t been above No. 25 in the national rankings in the past three months, battled injuries and professional departures all season and came up just short of making the quarterfinals for the 40th time.
