STANFORD, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford’s path to the national title was revealed Tuesday afternoon, as the Cardinal will compete as the top seed in all three boat classes at the 2025 NCAA Championships regatta May 30 through June 1 in West Windsor, N.J. at Mercer Lake.
The Cardinal earned the Atlantic Coast Conference's automatic bid to the regatta with its fourth consecutive conference championship title Saturday, topping No. 10 Virginia by 26 points. The NCAA announced eight other automatic qualifiers and 13 at-large bids Tuesday afternoon, as well as boat rankings and heat assignments for the first day of racing, May 30.
The national championship regatta is a three-day event, racing each team's varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four boats. With its top boat rankings, Stanford earned the top boat lane (lane three) and top heat (heat 1) for all three of its heat races.
Action for the Cardinal kicks off at 6:48 a.m. PT May 30 as the varsity eight boat races in heat one alongside No. 8 seed Michigan, No. 9 seed Brown, No. 16 seed Harvard and No. 17 seed Syracuse. At 7:36 a.m. PT, Stanford's second varsity eight boat takes on No. 8 seed Harvard, No. 9 seed Rutgers, No. 16 seed California and No. 17 seed Indiana in heat one, and the Cardinal's first day of action ends as the varsity four boat competes in heat one against No. 8 seed Tennessee, No. 9 seed Michigan, No. 16 seed Indiana and No. 17 seed Virginia at 8:24 a.m. PT.
