STANFORD, Calif. – Valerie Glozman will be competing in the US Open Wild Card Playoffs, set to be held at the USTA National Campus June 16-18, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced today.
The new event is part of an expanded NCAA-linked wild card pilot program that will more than double the average number of American collegiate players that earn US Open wild cards this year. The winners of a four-player men’s and women’s singles playoff and a four-team men’s and women’s doubles playoff will earn US Open main draw singles and doubles wild cards, while the men’s and women’s singles finalists will earn US Open qualifying wild cards.
Glozman is in the women’s singles field along with Auburn’s DJ Bennett, UC Santa Barbara’s Amelia Honer and Texas A&M’s Mary Stoiana. She was selected by a committee of USTA staff, college coaches and an ITA representative.
The singles semifinals will be played on Monday, June 16 and the finals will be contested on Wednesday, June 18. Matches will begin each day at 2 p.m. PT and be streamed on the USTA National Campus website.
Glozman recently concluded a sensational debut campaign on The Farm, finishing her freshman season as the No. 10 singles player in the country, with a 32-5 overall record and 19-3 mark in duals. She ended the year on an eight-match winning streak, including a perfect 3-0 in NCAA team competition at No. 2, and was 15-5 against ranked opponents. The ACC Freshman of the Year secured All-America honors by advancing to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Singles Championship in November.
Rated as the No. 1 recruit in the country by Tennis Recruiting, Glozman was a three-time wild card at the US Open Junior Championships, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.
