SINGAPORE – Seven members of Stanford’s 2024-25 men’s swimming and diving team, plus an incoming freshman, are set to compete at the World Aquatics Championships from July 26-August 3 at the Singapore Sports Hub.
These competitors will represent six nations and Andrei Minakov will compete as a neutral athlete. Henry McFadden and Jack Ryan will represent the United States, with McFadden competing in the 800-meter freestyle relay and Ryan in the 3-meter synchronized diving event.
This will be an opportunity for rising junior Jonathan Tan to compete in his home country. Tan will be racing in the 100- and 200-meter free events.
Also in action are Andres Dupont Cabrera for Mexico, Finn Harland for New Zealand, and Hayden Kwan for Hong Kong.
Minakov, a 26-time All-American at Stanford and a native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, will represent a Neutral Athletes B squad. At the 2019 World Championships, Minakov won silver in the 100 butterfly with a national-record time of 50.83, and won bronze in the 400 medley relay. He will compete in the 100 free and 100 fly.
