SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Incoming freshman Alyssa Ahn secured a spot in the 2025 US Open singles main draw Sunday afternoon, winning the singles title at the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Championships.
Ahn, the No. 7 seed, earned her wild card with a 6-1, 6-2 win over 17th-seeded Maya Iyengar in the final. She beat No. 5 seed Alexis Nguyen in the semifinals 6-1, 6-7 (1), 7-5 and ousted top-seeded Akasha Urhobo in a three-plus hour marathon in the quarters 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Ahn, also the 2022 Girls’ 16s champion is the first to win both BJK 16s and 18s since Lauren Davis was 16s champion in both 2008 and 2009 and 18s champion in 2011.
Ahn will join Stanford teammate sophomore Valerie Glozman in the main draw at the US Open. Glozman earned her wild card by winning the women's singles title at the American Collegiate Wild Card Playoffs in June.
Ahn is part of the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class along with Monika Ekstrand and Tianmei Wang. All three are blue-chip recruits according to the Tennis Recruiting Network and among the nation’s top five high school seniors that will enroll on college campuses this fall.
