STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 3 Stanford Cardinal opens the 2025 season this weekend, heading to Los Angeles for a Saturday game against No. 16 Loyola Marymount.
The Cardinal enters the season tied for third in the AWPCA poll, after returning to the NCAA Championship tournament last season. Leading this year's squad is senior All-American West Temkin, after posting the highest regular season save percentage (.497) in the MPSF last season.
The last time Stanford took on LMU was 2023, when the Cardinal won 19-8 on the road.
VET IN THE CAGE » Temkin returns in the cage after a Second Team All-America and First Team All-MPSF season in 2024. The senior was at his best in big games last season, stopping 16 shots in the MPSF third-place game, and eight in the NCAA Championship quarterfinal against No. 5 Princeton.
BACK FOR YEAR TWO » The sophomore class returns after a strong first season on The Farm. Ryan Ohl, Botond Balogh, Ben Forer and Will Schneider combined for 120 points (79 goals 41 assists). Schneider was named an All-MPSF honorable mention pick after the season.
SUMMER ABROAD » Ohl and junior Alex Gheorghe each competed at the World Aquatics World Championships in Croatia this summer. Ohl represented the US, while Gheorghe competed for Romania.
