Stanford Sweeps Oregon State

Cardinal improves to 76-0 all-time against the Beavers

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Hitting a season-high .390, No. 6 Stanford swept Oregon State, 25-14, 25-16, 25-21, Saturday, at Walter Pyramid.

The Cardinal (3-1) held Oregon State (0-1) to .133 hitting, racking up 11.0 blocks and 38 digs to go with five aces. Stanford is now a perfect 76-0 all-time against the Beavers.

Junior Jordyn Harvey led the team with nine kills on a season-best .381 attack percentage. The opposite also tallied four digs and three blocks. Redshirt sophomore Julia Blyashov added a season-high eight kills on .300 hitting, three digs, two aces and a block.

Sophomore setter Taylor Yu controlled the offense with 32 assists and had five digs, four blocks and a kill. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler collected a match-best 15 digs.

Outside hitter Elia Rubin turned in six kills on .375 hitting, nine digs, three blocks and two aces. Middle blockers Lizzy Andrew and Erika Sayer also notched six kills apiece. Andrew recorded a match-high six blocks, while Sayer tallied four.

Redshirt sophomore Koko Kirsch was utilized as a serving sub in the first and second sets, putting down an ace.

Making their Cardinal debuts were sophomores Sidney Duncan and Logan Tusher. Duncan entered the match in the second, while Tusher came in to serve in the third.

Oregon State was led by Lauren Rumel’s match-high 14 kills on .273 hitting and six digs. Maeli Cormier chipped in with seven kills and six digs.

Up next, Stanford travels to No. 5 Texas on Sept. 7  to take on the Longhorns at the Moody Center in Austin.
