STANFORD, Calif. – Behind a season-best 18.0 blocks, No. 5 Stanford swept Utah State, 25-13, 25-19, 25-16, Friday, in its home opener at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford’s 18.0 blocks were its most in a match since 2021. The Cardinal (5-2) hit. 287 as a team, while holding Utah State to a .024 clip.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey turned in her second double-double of the year with 12 kills on .364 hitting and a career-best 10 blocks – the most by a Cardinal player this season.
Setter Logan Parks dished out 31 assists to go with four digs and a kill. The freshman also matched her career-high with five blocks. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler collected a match-high nine digs, an ace and an assist.
The Cardinal sided out at a perfect 100 percent in the first set and was at 82 percent for the match.
Senior outside hitter Elia Rubin registered 10 kills on a season-high .474 attack percentage, three digs and three kills. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew hit .500 with six kills on 10 swings with just one miscue. The sophomore also matched her career-high with eight blocks.
Freshman Erika Sayer pitched in with six kills and a career-high nine blocks, while outside hitter Ipar Kurt finished with a career-high five aces, four kills and a season-best six digs.
Utah State was led by Mara Stiglic’s 10 kills and two blocks. Setter Kaylie Kofe recorded 23 assists, six digs and two blocks for the Aggies.
Stanford closes out the week on Sunday versus UD Davis. The Cardinal and Aggies meet at 3 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
