Ford Named ACC Running Back of the Week

Weekly honor comes after best rushing performance by Cardinal since 2017.

STANFORD, Calif. — Following a career-best night in Stanford’s home opener, sophomore running back Micah Ford has been named the ACC Running Back of the Week.

Ford was a key cog in Stanford’s offense as it roared to life against Boston College on Saturday, en route to a 30-20 win in the Cardinal’s ACC opener. Ford carried the ball 17 times for a career-high 157 yards and a touchdown in Stanford’s victory against the Eagles, his second 100-yard game of the season. He compiled the most rushing yards by a Stanford running back since Bryce Love ran for 166 yards against Washington in 2017.

Ford is off to a fantastic start to 2025, ranking third in the conference in rushing yards. He also has the fourth most broken tackles of any running back in the country, per Pro Football Focus.

This is the second time Ford has earned a weekly award from the ACC. In his breakout game last year at Clemson, he was named ACC Rookie of the Week following a 122-yard performance on the road. He is the first Stanford running back to be named ACC Running Back of the Week.

Stanford heads to the East Coast this week for the first time this season, taking on Virginia at 4:30 pm PT on Saturday, Sept. 20. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
