STANFORD, Calif. – Hitting .346 as a team, No. 5 Stanford swept UC Davis, 25-10, 25-16, 25-18, Sunday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (6-2) tallied just three unforced hitting errors on the afternoon, recording 37 kills, eight aces and 9.0 blocks. UC Davis (3-4) was held to .069 hitting – the second-lowest output by a Cardinal opponent this season.
Redshirt sophomore Julia Blyashov led Stanford with 10 kills on a career-high .389 hitting to go with two aces, two digs and a career-best three blocks. Senior Elia Rubin added nine kills on .471 hitting, four digs and two assists.
Setter Logan Parks dished out 23 assists to go with career-highs of eight digs and three blocks. The freshman also registered her first collegiate aces against the Aggies, racking up four on the afternoon.
Freshman middle blocker Erika Sayer hit a career-high .667 with nine kills on 12 swings with just one miscue. Sophomore Lizzy Andrew chipped in with eight kills on .375 hitting and a match-high seven blocks.
Libero Spencer Etzler anchored the defense with a match-high 10 digs to go with three assists and a pair of aces. Defensive specialist Koko Kirsch collected two digs, while setter Taylor Yu closed out the match with three assists.
UC Davis was led by outside hitter Jade Light’s 10 kills, eight digs and a block. Middle blocker Ally Chandler had a team-high five blocks for the Aggies.
Stanford remains on The Farm next week, playing host to Hawaii on Friday, Texas State on Saturday and No. 24 UCLA on Sunday.
