- Stanford women's tennis opens the 2025-26 campaign with its first tournament of the fall at next week’s ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina.
- Five Cardinal student-athletes will be in action at Cary Tennis Park, also the site of the 2026 ACC Tennis Championships, to begin their qualification push for the NCAA Singles Championship.
- Ten singles players will qualify, eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists.
- Sophomore Valerie Glozman will participate in main draw singles, while senior Caroline Driscoll and freshmen Alyssa Ahn, Monika Ekstrand and Tianmei Wang are slated to begin in the qualifying round.
- Qualifying takes place next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 22 and 23, with main-draw competition starting on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
- The Cardinal enters the fall with five ranked singles players in Valerie Glozman (No. 6), Caroline Driscoll (No. 58), Monika Ekstrand (No. 83), Alyssa Ahn (No. 90) and Tianmei Wang (No. 98).
- Ekstrand, Ahn and Wang comprise the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class. All three are blue-chip recruits according to the Tennis Recruiting Network.
- Stanford is tied with Florida for the most ITA All-American singles champions all-time (4): Hilary Barte (2010), Sandra Birch (1989, 1990) and Patty Fendrick (1987).
- The Cardinal has also collected a record seven ITA All-American doubles crowns: Mallory Burdette/Nicole Gibbs (2011), Hilary Barte/Mallory Burdette (2010), Lauren Kalvaria/Gabriela Lastra (2000), Marissa Irvin/Teryn Ashley (1998), Heather Willens/Laxmi Poruri (1992), Sandra Birch/Debbie Graham (1990) and Meredith McGrath/Teri Whitlinger (1989).
- It was a strong summer for the Cardinal, highlighted by Stanford participation at the US Open.
- Valerie Glozman and Alyssa Ahn both earned main draw wild cards, Glozman by winning the women's singles title at the American Collegiate Wild Card Playoffs in June and Ahn by winning the singles title at the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Championships.
- Monika Ekstrand received a women's qualifying draw wild card, while Tianmei Wang received a wild card into the girls' singles main draw.
- Stanford is in its second season under head coach Frankie Brennan. Last year, the Cardinal put together a 17-9 record, making its 43rd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and its 42nd trip to the Round of 16.
- Since joining the staff in 1996, Brennan has enhanced Stanford's reputation as the country's top program by helping guide the Cardinal to a 717-80 overall record, 12 NCAA championships, 21 conference regular-season titles and six conference tournament crowns. During his tenure, Brennan has mentored 39 All-Americans.
