Card Sweeps ‘Cats

Stanford wins 18th straight at Maples Pavilion

STANFORD, Calif. – Hitting a season-high .422 as a team, No. 4 Stanford swept Texas State, 25-20, 25-15, 25-18, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal (8-2) won its 18th straight match at home dating back to last season, dropping just three sets during that streak. Saturday was the first meeting between Stanford and Texas State (4-6).

Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered a match-high 10 kills on .562 hitting and three blocks to lead Stanford. Outside hitter Julia Blyashov added nine kills, matching her career-high with a .389 attack percentage.

Setter Logan Parks controlled the offense with 36 assists. The freshman also recorded four kills, three digs, a block and an ace. Libero Spencer Etzler collected seven digs and an assist.

Senior Elia Rubin posted a match-high 12 digs to go with six kills and two blocks. Freshman Erika Sayer hit a career-high .700 with seven kills on 10 errorless swings and three blocks.

Sophomore Taylor Yu came off the bench in the second and third sets, totaling four assists and three digs.

Nina Moorer led Texas State with nine kills and two aces. Setter Anna Blaine finished with 24 assists, six digs, two kills and a block for the Bobcats.

Stanford closes out its nonconference schedule on Sunday hosting UCLA at 3 p.m. following Hawaii and Texas State at 11 a.m.
