Allman, Little Claim Medals in Tokyo

The former Stanford student-athletes highlighted nine Cardinal competing at the 2025 World Athletic Championships.

TOKYO - Former Stanford student-athletes Valerie Allman '17 and Mackenzie Little '19 both reached the medal stand at the 2025 World Athletic Championships, highlighting a contingent of nine Cardinal competing in the event, which concluded early Monday morning. 

Allman, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, recorded a throw of 68.49 meters to capture her first World Championships gold medal, previously earning silver in Budapest in 2023 and bronze in Eugene in 2022.

Little, a native of Australia, earned her second career World medal with a bronze-winning effort of 63.58 meters. It marked her second consecutive appearance on the World podium, following a bronze at the 2023 meet.

Stanford had two representatives in the men's 5000m final, as Ky Robinson finished fourth with an Aussie meet record of 12:59.61, followed by Grant Fisher's eighth-place run of 13:00.79. Fisher also took eighth in the 10,000m final, clocking a season-best time of 28:57.85. 

Harrison Williams scored 7746 points to finish seventh in the decathlon, earning a decathlon-best 5.20-meter pole vault, along with a runner-up performance in the 400-meter with a time of 46.88 and a season-best 4:22.72 in the 1500 meters to finish fourth.

Distance runners Jessica Tonn McClain and Elise Cranny rounded out the event finalists for Stanford. McClain crossed the line eighth in the marathon with a season-best 2:29.20, while Cranny finished 12th in the 10,000-meter final with a 31:40.07 race time. Cranny also recorded a season-best in the 5000 meters, turning in a 15:00.23 to finished 18th overall. 

Udodi Onwuzurike finished 15th overall in the 200 meters, qualifying for the event semifinals with a 20.27 prelim effort before posting a 20.26 in his second run. Roisin Willis rounded out the Cardinal competitors with a 2:00.24 run to finish 23rd overall in the 800 meter heats.
