STANFORD, Calif. – Cardinal sophomore Botond Balogh has been named MPSF Player of the Week, after a weekend where he led Stanford to wins over No. 5 San Jose State and No. 11 Pepperdine.
Balogh finished the weekend with nine goals, four assists and four steals in two games. The totals extend his team lead in points (50), goals (31) and assists (19) on the seasons.
The native of Budapest, Hungary started strong with four goals on six shots in the road win at San Jose State on Friday. In Sunday's home opener against Pepperdine, Balogh was even sharper – scoring five times on just five shots and picking up three steals.
The accolade is the first of Balogh's career, and the first for a Stanford player this season.
The two wins put Stanford at 8-2 on the season, heading into a weekend in which No. 3 USC and No. 1 UCLA come to The Farm. Tickets for both games are available at Tickets.GoStanford.com.
